Warren County is located in the west-central portion of Mississippi on the banks of the Mississippi River. Warren County was formed on 22 December 1809 and was named for Revolutionary War Officer General Joseph Warren, who died at the Battle for Bunker Hill.
The county seat is Vicksburg, a city with a colorful history relating to the Civil War, life on the river, gambling, and antebellum homes. Other Warren County communities include: Bovina, Eagle Bend, Flowers, Redwood, Waltersville, Warrington, and Yokena. In it's first census in 1810 there were 1,114 residents listed. In the last federal census in 2000 the population was 49,644.
